The GIT Sustainability Promise
We promise to follow policies and practices that sustain the Earth, its climate and its resources for the benefit of everyone living now, and for future generations.
GIT’s GT range of remanufactured consumables and printing hardware offer you higher performance than any other comparable products in the market as well as the peace of mind knowing that their production has entailed the following benefits for the environment:
- Remanufacturing old toner cartridges, which weigh approximately 1.5 Kilogram’s and contain around 40% plastic, 40% metal, and smaller percentages of rubber, paper, foam, and toner means that they are unsuitable for landfill. Remanufacturing saves around between eight and ten kilograms of CO2 every time a cartridge is produced, used and disposed of.
- Remanufacturing means that the plastic used to create cartridges-an engineering-grade polymer-takes at least 1,000 years to biodegrade.
- Remanufacturing allows for almost 100% of this long-lasting plastic and other components to be reused or recycled.
- Remanufacturing and supplying locally means that the carbon footprint from fuel costs associated with shipping reduce their carbon footprint anywhere between 60% and 80%.
GIT’s Environmental Impact: a Few Statistics
Since beginning its operation in 1999, GIT has made a sizeable impact on the environment of the Kenya and the wider GCC region.
- We have saved nearly 1,000 tonnes of toner cartridges from landfills between 2010 and 2015 alone, with the amount steadily increasing as we grow
- We have saved around 8-10 kg per cartridge in CO2 through remanufacture that translates to nearly 3,200 tonnes saved from dispersal into the atmosphere from 2017-2022 alone
